Women Health

PCOS, PCOD

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) are hormonal disorders that affect millions of women today. Symptoms like irregular periods, weight gain, facial hair growth, acne, and infertility can deeply affect physical and emotional wellbeing. While modern medicine often prescribes birth control pills or hormone therapy, Ayurveda offers a more holistic, root-cause-based approach to healing.

Delayed periods, Less flow

At Dr. Meenakshi Bisht’s clinic, such concerns are treated using a personalized Ayurvedic approach. The treatment focuses on correcting hormonal imbalances through natural herbs, diet, detox, and lifestyle changes. Commonly used Ayurvedic herbs include Ashoka, Lodhra, Shatavari, Kumari (Aloe Vera), and Dashmool, which help regulate the menstrual cycle, nourish the endometrial lining, and stimulate healthy ovulation.

White Discharge

A major part of healing involves improving digestion (Agni), as undigested food (Ama) can contribute to infections and discharge. Women are guided on light, warm, and Kapha-reducing diets, avoiding sugar, fried foods, curd, and cold drinks. Gentle yoga and stress-reducing practices like meditation and pranayama also play a role in faster recovery.

Early Periods, Heavy Flow

Experiencing frequent periods with heavy bleeding—also known as Menorrhagia or Pradara in Ayurveda—can leave women feeling drained, anxious, and worried about their hormonal health. Early onset periods combined with excessive flow may result from Pitta dosha aggravation, which disrupts the natural rhythm of the menstrual cycle and leads to overheating of the blood (Rakta dhatu).
